About Oisín CLG Manchester
Established 1904
Who we are
Oisín CLG Manchester is a Gaelic football club based at Old Bedians Sports Centre in Didsbury, serving the Irish and wider community in Manchester and the North West of England. Founded in 1904, we are proud to be one of the oldest and most established GAA clubs in Britain.
We are more than just a team; we are a family club that values respect, commitment, and friendship. Our mission is to promote Gaelic football, foster Irish culture, and create a welcoming environment where players and members of all backgrounds can feel at home.
Our values
At Oisín CLG Manchester, we:
- Promote Gaelic games in a positive, inclusive, and competitive spirit.
- Encourage personal growth, teamwork, and leadership on and off the pitch.
- Celebrate Irish heritage, language, music, and culture within the club community.
- Support our members, families, and the wider local community whenever we can.
Our teams and programmes
We field teams at multiple levels:
- Senior Men: Competing in Lancashire championships and leagues, as well as British competitions when qualified. Our senior team has a proud record and continues to aim for honours each season.
- Ladies: Our ladies team offers competitive football and a supportive environment for women who want to play, develop, or get back into the sport.
- Youth: We provide underage teams and coaching that introduce children to Gaelic football in a fun and structured way, helping them to develop skills, confidence, and a love of the game.
New players are always welcome at all levels, from complete beginners to experienced inter-county footballers.
Our facilities
Our home grounds are at Old Bedians Sports Centre, Millgate Lane, Manchester, M20 5QX. The venue includes grass pitches suitable for Gaelic football, shared changing room facilities, showers, and a modern clubhouse with bar and function room.
The partnership with Old Bedians Rugby and Soccer clubs has allowed us to develop a high-quality base in South Manchester, giving our members a great place to train, play, and socialise.
Community and culture
Oisín CLG Manchester has deep roots in the Irish community in Manchester, with a history stretching back to the Craobh Oisín Gaelic League days in the early 1900s. The club has long been a hub for Irish culture, bringing together people through sport, music, and social events.
From dinner dances and club functions to family days and fundraising events, there is always something happening off the pitch. Many lifelong friendships have started at Oisín, and we take pride in being known as a friendly, caring, and welcoming club.
