- Greg O'Brien RIP |
Yesterday, a long standing member of Oisin’s GAA died peacefully at his home in Prestwich. Greg O’Brien has been involved with Oisin’s for over 30 years, as Treasurer, selector and most recently as trainer for the underage branch of Oisin’s North.
Greg’s involvement with the club has been enhanced by the performance of his two sons, Damian and Alex, both of whom played with Oisin’s and achieved many successes. Greg’s wife Rosemary and daughter have also played their part in supporting the club over the years and many players who have been involved with our club will have fond memories of the O’Brien family.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Rosemary, Damian, Alex, Siobhan and all Greg’s extended family at this time.
The funeral arrangements are as follows:
Tuesday 26th January 7pm at Servites / Our Lady of Dolours, 500 Bury New Rd. Kersal M74WP
Wednesday 27th January 9.30am followed by interment at Agecroft Cemetery
Due to Greg's formidable involvement with our club over the years, the committee feel that a Guard of Honour should be present at the service on Tuesday night. This is something that the family would greatly appreciate.
Please contact me to let me know if you would be willing to participate in this on Tuesday. Could all participants arrive at the church by 6.30pm
No flowers please, donations to The Christie Hospital.

- 2010 Annual General Meeting - Report |
The club held their AGM last Sunday. With a good crowd attending the meeting, many topics were discussed and finalised. The election of officers took place and a new senior/junior management team was appointed. The chairman thanked Martin Cassidy and John Farmer snr for their hard work in managing the team for the past two years and the new management team were wished the best of luck for the coming season.
The underage system at the club has grown from strength to strength in the past seasons and all coaches were thanked for their commitment to the teams. Special thanks go to Kevin McCormack, Pat Scally, James Logan and Steve Neary.
2009 was the first season for Oisins ladies and proved to be a very successful year. Stiofan Hunter will remain in the hot seat for the coming season and will hopefully bring more silverware to the club.
Oisin GAA takes this opportunity to thank all of its sponsors who have supported the club throughout the previous years. The club would also like to thank everyone who supported both our dinner and sportsmans dance.
Oisins are currently recruiting new members of all ages: under 10, 12, 14 and 16, junior, senior and ladies. For more information please call Paul Brady on 07774613818 or email info@oisinclg.com

- U12's win Championship |
Well done to the U12's who completed the double down at Turnmoss today.
They beat St Mary's in the final by 10 points. This was a great match to watch and the game could have gone either way, but hard work and guts shown through for the Oisin's lads to win this hard grueling game.
Great to see some of the senior lads down watching.
We have now completed the double at U10's, U12's & U14's this season, got beat in the semi stage in the U16's championship and got through to the all Briatin U14 final against Dulwich Harps from London who were to stronge for us on the day.
Well done to Steve, James, Pat & Kevin who worked hard all year and also help with the training with thanks to Kevin Swift, Richard Goss, Patrick Mulhern & Joe Dolan. Without you guys Oisin's would not been as successful this year in all comps.
See you all down at the underage presentation night on Sat 14th November, commencing at 7.30pm at Old Bedians.
Irish dancers, live traditional music, disco with Mark Kershaw.
Please support the underage on the night and it will be nice to see all members of the club down on the night with their family's and friends.
This includes all senior players & commitee members.
